Cocktail Recipe: Bloody Mary Bar

The Perfect Bloody Mary

What better way to start your weekend than with a savory, salty, tangy Bloody Mary?  Here are our steps to the perfect Bloody, inspired by our epic DIY Bloody Mary bar that we offer for brunch private events such as bridal showers, baby showers, and morning-after-wedding brunches.

Step One: Select Your Spirit

Though the classic Bloody Mary calls for Vodka, we find that other liquors add more interesting and nuanced flavors.  Here are some of our favorites:

Aviation Gin

Metaxa Ouzo

Peppercorn-Infused Vodka (lightly toast peppercorns before adding to vodka)

Piquillo Pepper-Infused Tequila

Kleos Mastiha

Step Two: Season & Stir

After mixing your desired liquor with tomato juice, it's time to add heat and flavor.  While lemon juice, black pepper, Worcestershire, horseradish, and celery salt are classics, we recommend also including the following for adventurous drinkers:

Capers

Olive Juice

Clam Juice

Truffle Salt

Sriracha

Bomba Calabrese

Melinda's Extra Hot Sauce

Basil Simple Syrup (simmer equal parts water, sugar, and basil-- delicious with the peppercorn vodka!)

Step Three: Garnish Your Glass

The celery stalk feels a little tired (sorry, Steve Buscemi).  Try these updated garnishes:

Gibson Onions

Beef Jerky

Sundried Tomatoes

Cubed Hard Cheese (such as Grana Padano)

Pickled Okra, Carrots, or Green Beans

Fresh Asparagus Stalk

Fresh Herbs- Dill, Basil, or Cilantro
